Black timing marks are a definite option when working with mobile printers. However, devices like the Zebra ZQ630 can also handle labels with a gap sensor (no black mark!).

A cheaper option, users simply need to adjust the settings to begin printing.

Below are the instructions on how to switch from timing mark to gap sensor on a Zebra ZQ630:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Press the Home button, then press Settings.
  3. Press the right arrow to Media Type and then press the down arrow.
  4. Enter in the default password by pressing the up and down arrows. The password can be found in the Zebra printer manual.
  5. Press Done.
  6. Set the media type to gap or mark depending on the labels being used and then press Home.
