Matte labels have a flat, non-glare face that's easy to read under store lighting and easy to write on. Gloss labels give brighter, more saturated color for retail packaging. Inkjet paper labels are not waterproof. Inkjet polypropylene labels are water-resistant, so they hold up to condensation, ice buckets, refrigeration and wet handling. For drum labels that must survive seawater, choose the BS 5609 material.

Yes. BS 5609 is its own material option, alongside paper and polypropylene. BS 5609 is the British standard for labels on chemical drums shipped by sea, and chemical shippers use it for GHS drum labels that must stay readable after months in seawater. Choose BS 5609 as the material when you order.

Smith Corona inkjet roll labels run in Epson ColorWorks printers, including the C4000, C6000, C6500 and C8000, and in Afinia, Canon, Primera and QuickLabel color label printers. No. A direct thermal printer needs heat-sensitive labels, and inkjet labels have no heat-sensitive coating. Thermal printers take direct thermal or thermal transfer labels.

The core size or roll OD doesn't match the printer. Compact printers such as the Epson ColorWorks C4000 take a 2" core and a 4" roll. The Epson C6500 and Primera LX910 take a 3" core but hold a roll no larger than 6". Measure the inside of the core and the outside of the roll, then compare them to your printer's limits. If you want larger rolls than the printer holds, an external media holder or unwinder can feed them from outside the printer.

The usual causes are a gloss label in a matte-version printer (or the reverse), the wrong media type selected in the printer driver, or labels handled before the ink dries. Labels without an inkjet coating will smear in any printer.

Yes. Larger orders ship LTL freight, which is usually cheaper per case than UPS or FedEx Ground and arrives palletized and shrink-wrapped. As a rule of thumb, orders over 15 cases qualify. Yes. Provide your UPS or FedEx account number, or a customer-provided BOL for LTL-sized orders.
