The D3800 uses genuine Epson ink cartridges in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black Gloss. Cartridges for other ColorWorks printers won’t work in the D3800.

Yes. All ink cartridges we sell are genuine Epson ColorWorks cartridges, made for consistent color, reliable print quality, and the best performance from your printer.

No. The D3800 uses one ink set for both matte and gloss labels. The black cartridge is called Black Gloss, but it’s the only black for the D3800 and prints on both label types.

Yes. The D3800 uses a separate cartridge for each color, so you only replace the color that runs out.

Each D3800 cartridge holds 40 mL of ink. How many labels you get depends on your label size and how much ink each design uses. Labels with large areas of solid color use more ink than labels with mostly text or small graphics.

Dye ink produces vibrant, saturated color and works well for everyday labels and short runs. Pigment ink, used in our other ColorWorks printers, is designed for long-term durability. If your labels need to hold up to harsh conditions or long-term use, like chemical or compliance labeling, a pigment ink printer may be a better fit.

Your printer’s control panel shows ink levels and alerts you when a cartridge is low.

The D3800 uses a small amount of ink for routine maintenance, such as print head cleaning, to keep print quality consistent. This waste ink collects in the SJMB4000 maintenance box.

Keep unopened cartridges in their original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use them before the date printed on the package.

We recommend genuine Epson ink. Damage caused by third-party or refilled cartridges may not be covered by your printer’s warranty.

Yes. Unopened ink cartridges can be returned within 30 days of purchase. An RMA number is required for all returns. See the Returns tab for details.
