The core refers to the cardboard cylinder at the center of your label roll. Mobile printers typically use .75" core label rolls.

This type of label comes in a stack. It can be loaded into the back of your desktop (1" core) or industrial (3" core) printer. Many people prefer fanfold labels due to their versatility and their "self stacking" nature when printed in batches.
Perforated labels are typically applied by hand.
Perforation refers to the row of small holes on the liner in between each label that make tearing easier.
Non-perforated labels are typically applied by machine.
Labels with no perforation work best with print and apply applicators as well as printers using peel and present mode.
Continuous labels are one long label that is typically cut by a blade (cutter) on your printer. This allows you to print variable length labels.
Wax ribbons are the right choice when printing on paper labels. This type of ribbon is the most cost effective solution.
Wax resin ribbons are an optimal choice for printing on synthetic materials, such as polypropylene, as well as coated, glossy, matte, or other weatherproof materials.

Mobile Printer Labels
.75" core labels are used in mobile printers. These mobile printers use direct thermal labels which do not require a ribbon when printing. In order for the printer to detect where one label ends and another begins, these ¾" core labels have either a black timing mark or gap sensor between each label. To figure out which sensor your printer is using, turn over the label to see if there is a black mark. If there isn't, you are using a gap sensor. Mobile printers have the default setting fixed for timing mark labels, but this can easily be changed in the settings.
Printers for these labels are exploding in popularity due to their versatility. They can be used in large warehouse environments or in retail stores.
By far the most common manufacturer of these mobile printers is Zebra. For quite some time the most common model was a Zebra QLN Series, highlighted by the QLN420. However, Zebra has recently been replaced by the ZQ series of printers, the most popular being the ZQ630.
One last thing to keep in mind when buying labels for ¾" core printers is that some printers will only accept a smaller outer diameter (OD) roll. If you are unsure if your printer will fit the industry standard 2.6" OD roll, please contact our support team and they will advise you.
