All Direct Thermal Labels

Direct Thermal (DT) labels print without the use of a ribbon. The ink is already embedded within the label material and appears when exposed to the heat of the print head. They are great for printing shipping labels, case and pallet identification labels, barcodes, and more.

Direct thermal labels come in .75" core, 1" core, 3" core, and fanfold. They are best for temporary and indoor applications away from sunlight, where they last between 6 to 8 months. Their advantages span multiple environments with the ability to print at any volume depending on the printer type.

Direct thermal labels can operate in mobile, desktop, and industrial printers. Mobile printers use a .75" core, the smallest size available. Environments with large areas to cover, like warehouses and retail floors, utilize these printers for their mobility benefits. Zebra is a common manufacturer for mobile printers with their ZQ630 becoming a popular model.

Desktop printers utilize 1" core or fanfold labels. Many popular brands use only direct thermal labels, like the Rollo printer. These compact devices take up little surface space and are budget friendly for small businesses.

Industrial printers use 3" core or fanfold labels. High-volume print jobs and demanding environments benefit from using these durable printers. Some popular industrial printers include: Zebra, Datamax, Sato, and Intermec.

Direct thermal labels can be perforated, non-perforated, or continuous with black timing marks or gap sensors, or notch if using a DYMO printer.
